Data Analytics & AI for Small Business, Melbourne

We ingest your data into our lakehouse. No infrastructure to run. No licence costs to carry. Just build time, and an answer you can actually use on Monday.

How We Work

Analytics and AI That Fit a Small Business, Not a Data Centre

Small businesses run on the same data problems as the big end of town: scattered systems, no single version of the truth. We ingest the data from Xero, MYOB, Cygen, Tanda and the rest of your systems into our lakehouse: one clean copy of your data, engineered once, that keeps running costs down instead of up.

No infrastructure for you to run. No per-seat licence bills. Our lakehouse does the heavy lifting, and the reporting layer is your choice: Power BI if you want it, or D3.js dashboards, Fabric apps and DuckDB-backed tools where they fit better, several of which carry no per-viewer licence at all. You pay for build time; the output is yours to keep using.

A lakehouse without the data-centre bill. Your data is ingested once into ours, which we run on our own Microsoft Fabric and cloud accounts, with the running costs folded into your price. No server estate for you to run, no platform for you to babysit.

Licencing engineered down. Power BI is one option, not the default. D3.js dashboards, Fabric apps and DuckDB-backed tools deliver reporting with no per-viewer licence at all, and the running cost tracks how often your data refreshes, not how many people are looking at the reports.

AI-ready from day one. The lakehouse layer is where AI leverages your data. Reports and AI work from the same governed copy, so the answers agree with the numbers your team already trusts.

Finance + IT expertise. We've sat on both sides: the numbers and the systems. The deliverable is the decision, not a dashboard you have to decode.

Why This Model Works for Small Business

Working with us on a build-time basis means the costs that usually stop small businesses from doing this properly simply aren't there.

No new software bill

We run the lakehouse on our own Microsoft Fabric and cloud accounts and fold the running costs into what you pay. No separate infrastructure bill to open, no per-seat licences to renew.

Just build time

You pay for a fixed, quoted piece of work, not an open-ended retainer. Scope it, price it, build it, hand it over. Most engagements run days to weeks, not quarters.

You own the output

The model, the reports, the workflows: they're yours. Nothing is licensed back to you, so nothing stops working if our engagement ends. Handover includes a walkthrough so your team can run it.

Your data stays yours

A copy of your data lives in our managed lakehouse: access-controlled, never used to train public AI models, and exportable back to you on request. Your source systems stay yours throughout.

Grows when you do

Built on the same principles we use for enterprise work: one source of truth, definitions that survive scrutiny. When you outgrow it, the build scales up to Fabric or a warehouse instead of getting thrown out.

One person, start to finish

You work directly with the consultant who scopes, builds, and hands over your system. No account managers, no ticket queue. The person who understands your numbers is the person who fixes them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "no infrastructure cost, no licence cost" actually mean?

It doesn't mean we skip the engineering. It means you never open an infrastructure invoice. Your data is ingested into our lakehouse, the cheapest way to get one clean, trusted copy of it, which we run on our own Microsoft Fabric and cloud accounts, with the running costs folded into your price. And reporting is delivered so your people can read it without a licence each. You pay for the build; after that, it just runs.

Do we need to buy Microsoft Fabric or Power BI licences?

No. Power BI is optional, not the default. We deliver reporting with whatever fits the job: Power BI when you want it, custom D3.js visualisations, Fabric apps, or DuckDB, which is free, open source and carries no per-viewer licence at all. What does drive the running cost is refreshing your data, and that's sized to your data volumes, not your viewer count: whether one person or fifty open the report on Monday morning, the cost is the same. And if a paid tier is ever genuinely worth it, we'll tell you honestly and help you move. But nothing here starts with "first, buy a platform".

How does "just build time" pricing work?

We scope the work, quote it, and deliver it: a fixed piece of build time, not an open-ended retainer. Most engagements are a few days to a few weeks: connect Xero, MYOB, Cygen, Tanda or your job system, build the model and the report, hand it over with a walkthrough. Running the lakehouse is part of the service: infrastructure costs are folded into the price, never billed separately, and they track how often your data refreshes, not how many people read the reports. You get a clear upfront quote at the free 30-minute consultation.

What can AI actually do for a small business?

Practical things: drafting quotes and invoices from your own templates, summarising customer threads, reconciling transactions, answering questions against your own documents, and turning scattered exports from your systems into one report. Because your data sits in one clean lakehouse layer, AI has somewhere solid to work from: the same governed numbers your reports read, not another scattered copy. Not a chatbot bolted onto your website, but AI applied to the specific paperwork your business repeats every week.

Is our data safe? Where does it live?

Your source records stay in your systems; we only ever read from them. The working copy lives in Streamline's managed lakehouse, which we run on our own Microsoft Fabric and cloud accounts: access-controlled, never used to train public AI models, and yours to export whenever you want. For anything sensitive we use encrypted, key-controlled sharing, the same mechanism we offer clients for secure file transfer.

What if we grow and need something bigger?

That's the good problem. Because we build on the same principles we use for enterprise work, one source of truth with definitions that survive scrutiny, your small-business build scales up rather than gets thrown out. When it's time for Microsoft Fabric or a full warehouse, we'll size it honestly, right so you're not paying for compute you don't use.

Do you only work with Melbourne businesses?

Not at all. We're Melbourne-based but work with clients across Australia and internationally. Most of our collaboration happens remotely, so location is never a barrier, whether you're in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, or regional Australia.
